Co-Teacher for Grade 5

The Waldorf School of Cape Cod is looking for the right person to join us for a unique teaching/learning opportunity. Our rising 5th grade teacher wishes to reduce her teaching load to half-time. She is a Waldorf teacher of 21 years experience and has been our colleague for many years. This is her fourth 5th grade class. We are looking for a teacher to join her as a co-teacher for this class of 13 students through their 8th grade year. Our plan is for our teacher, who has been with this class since 1st grade, to take the first Main Lesson block this fall, after which time, the teacher who joins her would cover the remaining Main Lesson blocks. Our current teacher would then teach extra mains and our gardening program.

This presents possibilities to a number of potential candidates: a teacher in training or just out of training, or an experienced teacher who only wants to work part-time. Ideally, we would want someone to commit for the next 4 years; the possibility of taking a full-time class teaching position would be open afterwards.

The Waldorf School of Cape Cod is celebrating its 30th year of teaching excellence on the Cape. We are an AWSNA full member school and dual accredited through AWSNA and NEASC.

Our school is situated on a beautiful 13.5 acre site in the quaint village of Cotuit. Located ninety minutes our from Boston, the Cape is an idyllic setting to raise children with ocean, bays, lakes and woods to explore for miles in all directions.

Our current enrollment is 112 students.  We have a highly supportive and involved parent community. Through collaboration, grounded in a solid commitment to Waldorf education, our faculty greatly enjoys their work together out of a strong consensus model.
